Realty Department Information and Transactions | Native Village of Barrow

As a service provider for: United States: Department of Interior’s departmental functions connected with U.S. Tribes-recognized by U.S. Congress working with the following Offices: Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Special Trustee, and Office of Hearings and Appeals

Realty Department is to protect the land rights for the following land ownership: USS 4615 Barrow Town site -Restricted Trustee Deeds and Native Allotments within the jurisdictional boundaries of Native Village of Barrow.

As a service provider for US Department of Interior, NVB Realty Department has an obligation to complete the US BIA Probates of deceased clients to make sure that all the necessary information is collected for each decease file case and forward the probate package to the US DOI: BIA Alaska Region, Probate and Estate Services at Anchorage, Alaska. When the Probate Package is submitted to BIA Alaska Region; it is no longer in NVB hands but to provide further information need for BIA to submit for Hearing and Decision.

Realty Department is to protect the land rights for the following land ownership: USS 4615 Barrow Townsite -Restricted Trustee Deeds and Native Allotments within the jurisdictional boundaries of Native Village of Barrow.

As a service provider for US Department of Interior, NVB Realty Department has an obligation to complete the US BIA Realty Transaction of clients to make sure that all the necessary information is collected for each transaction case: Revocable Use Permits, Lease, Mortgage, Right of Ways, Negotiated Sales, Advertised Sales, Subdivisions, Gift Deeds and Trespass’ associated with the Restricted Trustee Deed parcel or Native Allotment. Also Repatriation of tribal funerary objects and human remains to be returned back to origin: Native Village of Barrow thru federal regulation on NAGPRA.

 

NATIVE ALLOTMENT:

The subject land was conveyed to the Indian owner under the Native Allotment Act of    May 17, 1906 (34 Stat. 197), and is under the administrative jurisdiction of the Federal government.  The Native Village of Barrow (NVB) has contracted the Real Estate Services from the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and has the legal authority to protect the restricted land from unauthorized use, alienation, and/or encumbrance

NATIVE TRUSTEE TOWNSITE

The subject land was conveyed to the landowner under the Alaska Native Townsite Act of May 25, 1926 (44 Stat. 629), and is under the administrative jurisdiction of the Federal government. The Native Village of Barrow has contracted the Real Estate Services from the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and has the legal authority to protect the restricted land from unauthorized use, alienation, and/or encumbrance.
