Tribal Transportation

The Tribal Transportation Department of the Native Village of Barrow focuses on addressing the community’s transportation needs while promoting safety, economic growth, and environmental stewardship. Working closely with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), the department develops long-range plans and infrastructure projects to support housing, utilities, healthcare, and education, ensuring alignment with community priorities.

Road Maintenance
Road Maintenance
The department manages road maintenance by using up to 25% of Tribal Transportation Program (TTP) funds to support BIA road maintenance efforts.
  • Road Sealing: Not subject to funding limitations.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Maintenance funding follows Subpart G of 25 CFR 170 regulations.
