A. US Department of Treasury CARES Act funding of 9 Million was received by the Tribe and this General Welfare Program is designed to comply with the CARES Act requirements and guidance.
B. Economic Development CARES Act Recovery Assistance Grant of $150,000 for FY2020 to create and develop (a) Disaster Mitigation Planning, (b) staff funding for a Regional Disaster Economic Recovery Coordinator (0.5FTE), (c) Technical Assistance to stakeholders and local businesses and (d) Organizational capacity increase to support Coronavirus Response. Economic Development Administration Cares Act funding was made available to only PPP partners with active and current CEDS.
C. Indian Housing Block Coronavirus Aid, Relief, & Economic Security Act or “Abbreviated Housing Plan” (APR) for $474,231 used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19, including to maintain normal operations and fund eligible affordable housing activities under the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act of 1996 during the period the program is impacted by COVID-19. This abbreviated process will ensure that this requirement is met. (This grant has been fully expended.)
D. 75 Man Camp Coronavirus Quarantine Project In partnership with the North Slope Borough the Executive Director is working with the Environmental Director to develop a program with services to protect the Members and community by providing a safe and stable environment for people who have tested positive for Covid-19. Grant opportunities to provide more services are being explored.
E. Covid-19 Food Assistance Program. A new program to help members and families who have tested positive for the virus can fill out an application with proof or documentation that you or family members have tested positive. Low income members get first priority.
